Website Development

Custom website design, development, and administration. Static sites, dynamic web apps, CMS setup, and ongoing maintenance.

[ 01 ] Overview

A website is a piece of infrastructure, not a marketing campaign. It needs to be there at three in the morning when someone in another time zone is looking for you. It needs to load on a phone with two bars. It needs to keep working when the person who originally built it has left. Most agencies optimize for the launch screenshot; we optimize for the year after.

We design and build websites the way they should be built — server-side where it makes sense, JavaScript only where it earns its keep, semantic HTML, accessible markup, fast on real devices. Static brochure sites for businesses that need a clean shopfront, dynamic web applications for businesses that need a portal or a tool, content-managed sites for teams that update regularly. The site you're reading is one of ours: PHP, SQLite, custom router, no framework, no bloat. We build for clients the same way.

After launch the relationship stays simple. Hosting on our infrastructure or yours. Backups that actually restore. Security patches applied without drama. The occasional new feature when the business changes. Nobody on a retainer they're paying for and not using.

Our process

  1. Brief. you tell us what the site is for, who it's for, and what success looks like
  2. Wireframes and copy outline. agreed before any visual design, because layout follows content
  3. Design. two or three direction studies, one chosen and developed end-to-end
  4. Build. staged on a preview URL, weekly check-ins, no surprises at launch
  5. Launch and care. DNS cutover, post-launch tuning, ongoing support if you want it

[ 02 ] Common questions

What does a typical site cost?

Brochure sites — a small handful of pages, contact form, blog — start in the low five figures. Custom web applications scale from there based on scope. Every proposal is fixed-fee with the scope written in plain language. No "starting at" pricing that quietly doubles.

WordPress, Webflow, or custom?

Whichever fits the work and your team. WordPress when there's heavy content editing by non-technical staff and you need the plugin ecosystem. Webflow for design-heavy brochure sites that don't need much custom logic. Custom (PHP, often) when the site is also a tool — a portal, an internal app, something with real database logic. We'll recommend what fits, not what we feel like building.

Will the site be fast?

Yes. We design for Core Web Vitals from the start — server-side rendering where possible, no megabyte JavaScript bundles, images sized and compressed properly, caching configured. Speed is a design choice, not a post-launch optimization.

Is the site accessible?

Yes — WCAG 2.1 AA as a baseline, with semantic HTML, keyboard navigation, sensible colour contrast, and alt text on imagery. For government work or any organization with ADA exposure, we'll work to AA conformance with documented testing.

Can you redesign our existing site without losing our SEO?

Yes — content audit, redirect map for every legacy URL that has traffic or backlinks, careful migration of meta and structured data, and post-launch monitoring to catch ranking drops early. SEO migrations done badly cost months of recovery; done properly they're a non-event.

Are you DVBE certified?

Yes — California DVBE on file with DGS. State agencies and primes with DVBE participation requirements can use our hours toward those goals on web work the same as any other line.
