OS Installation & Support

Batch operating system installation for Windows, Linux, and macOS. System setup, configuration, and ongoing troubleshooting support.

[ 01 ] Overview

The OS isn't the work — the configuration is. A fresh install of Windows 11 takes twenty minutes; turning that machine into something an employee can sit down at and actually use takes the rest of the afternoon. Domain join, drivers, printers, the seven applications they need, the security baseline, the bookmarks, the email signature. Multiply by twenty laptops and the day becomes a week.

We do that work — Windows 10 and 11, macOS, the major Linux distributions — for businesses replacing aging fleets, agencies running annual refresh cycles, and labs that need every machine identical to the next. Imaging, deployment, post-install configuration, user data migration from the old machine. We bring the build sheet, you bring the asset list.

After the rollout, the work is quieter — the broken Outlook profile, the printer that won't come back after Windows updates, the laptop that won't boot after a BIOS update went sideways. We stay reachable for that, hourly or under a small monthly cap, whichever fits.

What you'll get

  • Standard build image. your applications, your settings, your security baseline, deployable to one machine or fifty
  • Domain join and identity integration. Active Directory or Entra ID configured at imaging time, not afterward
  • User data migration. documents, browser profiles, signatures, mapped drives moved cleanly from old machine to new
  • Printer and peripheral configuration. drivers preinstalled, defaults set, queues mapped to the right hardware
  • Driver and firmware patching. current at handover, not three versions behind
  • Per-machine documentation. asset tag, serial, image version, install date, handed back as a clean spreadsheet
  • Optional ongoing helpdesk. for the small things that surface in week one, billed hourly or under a small monthly cap

Our process

  1. Build sheet. we agree on what "configured" means before we touch a single machine
  2. Reference build and validation. one image tested end-to-end on a single laptop you sign off on
  3. Deployment. imaging the rest, on-site or in our shop, against the agreed schedule
  4. Handover. machines delivered configured, asset list reconciled, old machines wiped to your standard
  5. Tail support. we stay reachable for the small things that surface in the first 30 days

[ 02 ] Common questions

How many machines is this worth doing for?

The setup cost makes sense from about ten machines up — below that, hand-configuring a couple at a time is honestly cheaper. The value gets better as the count climbs because the build sheet only gets written once.

Can you handle mixed environments — some Windows, some Mac?

Yes. The build sheets are per OS, but we do them in parallel and deliver from one engagement. We've done shops where the field staff get Windows, the design team gets Macs, and the lab benches run Linux.

Do you supply the hardware too?

We can — we hold a California Reseller Permit and source from major distributors. Or we'll image whatever you've already procured. Both paths are fine, and we'll quote them separately so you can compare.

What happens to the old machines?

Your call. We can wipe to NIST 800-88 standards and hand them back, prepare them for resale or donation, or arrange certified e-waste recycling. Wipe certificates are part of the documentation handover either way.

Are you available for on-site work in San Diego County?

Yes — Chula Vista based. On-site for the parts that benefit from being in the room (delivery, asset reconciliation, user data sessions). Imaging itself is usually faster done in our shop and shipped or delivered configured.

Is this work eligible for DVBE participation?

Yes — South Bay IT Solutions is California DVBE certified through DGS. Hours billed on deployment work count toward state agency DVBE participation goals and can support sub roles on prime-contractor task orders.
